Sabrina Schulz joined the British Association of Private Security Companies (BAPSC) as Director of Policy in February 2006. Previously, she was a Fellow at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS) at the Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC.
Her academic research focuses on the transformation of security in the 21st century, including the privatisation of security and military-technological transformation. Further fields of expertise are US foreign, security and defence policy, NATO, and the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP).
Sabrina studied at the Universities of Konstanz (Germany) and Louvain (Belgium) and holds a Postgraduate degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of Potsdam. Furthermore, she holds a Masters degree in International Politics from the University of Wales at Aberystwyth where she also completed her PhD in 2005.
During her PhD course Sabrina taught on a course on Humanitarian Intervention and has since developed a growing interest in humanitarian issues covering their legal, ethical, and strategic dimensions.
Sabrina has previously worked in the German Bundestag and in the European Parliament in Brussels.
